Jerry Hall is rarely out of the limelight, whether on the arm of the
Stones frontman or on the cover of the world's fashion Mags. Recently
she’s been busy reinventing herself as an actress, and you can see
how successful the transition has been when she appears in the play
"Picasso’s Women" by Brian McAvera at the Malvern Festival Theatre.
She’ll have her work cut out to steal any scenes as the show also
features Frances Tomelty, Cherie Lungi , Gwen Taylor and Candida Benson.
As the title suggests the play looks at the life of Pablo Picasso
through the women who knew him. The play itself is anything but straightforward.
For a start it’s not one play but five plays, one about each of the
women. To further confuse matters these plays are spilt into two groups,
programme A and Programme B, which are performed on different nights.
If you want to see Jerry Hall in action you have to make sure you
see programme B. If you’re determined to see all five plays then you
have the choice of either going on two separate nights, or trying
to get tickets for a Saturday night when the whole sequence is performed.
It’s never easy to make the transition from "famous in one field"
to "famous actor/actress", but Jerry Hall has made a much better fist
of it than, for instance, her famous ex. Remember Ned Kelly?
The tabloids concentrated on the fact that she appeared naked when
"The Graduate" was staged in the West End recently, but there was
praise for her performance from the less flesh-obsessed broadsheets.
Jerry has also appeared on screen, notably in Batman as the girlfriend
of Jack Nicholson’s wildly over-the-top Joker.
If you do go to see Picasso’s Women then we’d love to know what you
made of it. You can contact us and send us a review, or by post at BBC Hereford
