| FACTS |
 |
|
A
brother and sister duo (Karin and Olof) from Stockholm, The
Knife claim their music which is a glorious blend of
melodic electro-pop, machine-made rhythms and dark, curveball
twists is nothing more than pop, yet their songs speak
of an informed and subversive political agenda
They
refuse to play live - but dont think this is a bold
statement - and deride rocknroll for being outdated
Solarise
Records are an online record label Resource who's aim is to
help showcase, promote and sell the music of any talented,
original, independent artists from any genre, from any country
Written
and produced by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, his longtime
musical collaborator, Real Gone features primal blues,
Jamaican rock-steady grooves, African and Latin rhythms and
melodies and what Waits calls cubist funk

Every
month we'll be showcasing our favourite new album releases so our
collection should always be like a vegetarian Christmas dinner (no
turkeys).
If
you've heard a recent release that should be added to this collection
then please let us know
about it.
| The
Knife: Deep Cuts |
 |
The Knife are huge in their native Sweden and when you hear
Deep Cuts you can understand why. It's a highly polished
electro-pop album with stunning production and plenty of catchy
tunes. The album includes a DVD disc with some crazy videos.
Similar to Bjork and some of Kylie's more experimental work,
Deep Cuts should further the band's reach. |
| Solarise
Records: Autumn Acoustics |
 |
This
is a cool collection of laid back acoustic songs from around
the world. The album features The Girl in the Light,
a beautiful tune from Worcester's very own Jamie
Knight who recently played a gig at Huntingdon Hall
in his home city. Highlights include The Vampire Chic
by Big Wolf Papa and No Logo's Window Pain. |
| Tom
Waits: Real Gone |
 |
Tom
Waits seems to have been around for ever and he's certainly
becoming more distinctive with age. Real Gone is the
audio equivalent of marmite, you either love it or hate it.
Tom's army of fans will be delighted by his latest offering
but for everyone else it's probably going to be a bit too much
like hard work trying to make sense of it. |
