get in contact

MAS Records in association with the Clifford T. Ward Foundation and BBC Hereford & Worcester has launched a songwriting competition to emphasise and support the importance of new young songwriters.

New songwriters are the lifeblood of the music industry, and the aim of the competition is to nurture new talent in all genres of music.

We aim to help young songwriters to carry on the legacy in music that Clifford left behind.

Clifford is regarded as one of the greatest writers in Britain and is respected throughout the industry.

He leaves a great legacy of music that will last, for as long as an appreciative audience enjoys good songs.

The competition is an opportunity for all young songwriters to submit their song and compete with other young writers in the Midlands.

The winner will benefit from
  • Having their material recorded & released on CD.
  • An opportunity to perform themselves or MAS Records will find an artist.
  • Industry specialist commentary on their work.
  • BBC airplay: Radio and internet.
  • A public vote.
  • Industry contacts to promote the song.

Each entry must consist of:
1. Completed and signed application form (or copy). All signatures must be original.
2. CDs or audio cassette(s) containing one song only, five minutes or less in length.
3. Lyric sheet typed or printed. Sheets not required for instrumental compositions.

If you would like to enter the competition you can download an application form here.

All entries must be received by 30th July 2004.
