One of Worcester’s biggest musical exports, The Beatless have left their mark on thrilled audiences Europe-wide, and as far a-field as Russia and the Middle East.

Although the band has tried to hang up their wigs on previous occasions, their manager says that this is really it.

Tony Gibbon explains:

"Let’s face it, they’ve been together for longer than the real Beatles were.

"We’ve tried to call it a day before but have always been faced with too many good offers that have been too hard to turn down.

"But this time will be the last.

"I’ve already made plans to auction off costumes and other Beatless paraphernalia after this show, so there’s no going back."

Founding member Jules Benjamin continues:

"I think we’ve achieved everything possible for a tribute band.

"We've seen a lot of the world, and done our little bit towards keeping the music of the Beatles alive.

"You can’t carry on doing this sort of thing forever though.

"I mean we’re all older than the Beatles were when they split up, so it’s definitely time to say goodbye to the Beatless, and we’re going to do it with a bang."

The event coincides with the 100th anniversary celebrations of Worcester City Football Club.

The band have always wanted to play there in an open-air show before the club make their imminent move to a new home.

Founder member Les Ames: "Well we’ve done plenty of stadiums before, in fact we did Worcester Rugby Club just a couple of years ago.

"St. George’s Lane is so close to the centre of Worcester where we have made so many friends over the years.

"The band are looking forward to this opportunity to say thank you to their loyal fans.

"It promises to be the most memorable concert in Worcester for many years."
