Mention
the film Gosford Park and the first thing that springs to mind is
awards, represented at the BAFTA's, Golden Globes, the Screen Actors
and again at the forthcoming Oscars. The cast reads like a fantasy
dinner party guest list, with names such as Derek Jacobi, Maggie
Smith, Helen Mirren and Stephen Fry who plays the role of Inspector
Thompson. Alongside Thompson is Constable Dexter played by Malvern
man Ron Webster.

Here
is what Ron Webster has to say about playing the role as Constable
Dexter:
What
was it like to work with so many British stars? I hadn't
worked with anybody who starred in the film previously. As soon as
I found out I got the part and I saw who I would be working with,
my knees almost gave away, I just couldn't believe it. It was a dream
come true for me and to be working with Robert Altman, the director
and producer.
Where
was the film set? The interior of the film was set at
Rootem House North of London, it has been devoted to film making
for the past 20 years. The other part of the film set was built
in Shepperton, it was unbelievable as soon as you walked onto the
set, you would forget you were there.
Has
anything come as close as Gosford Park in the 22 years you have
been acting? Not really no, I have been acting now for
22 years and I have done TV and Theatre work over the years, but
this was by far the biggest role.
What
is your next move? I have been working on an episode
of 'Doctors', and I play the lead role, which was a good part to
play. The eposide is called 'Posion Climber' and will be shown on
the 23rd April. Otherwise I will keep waiting for the next phone
call.
Have
you got any tips for actors wanting to make it 'big'?
If you're thinking of becoming an actor, do it because you want
to, not because you want to be famous it just won't happen, you
have to want to be an actor.
