Work building the Priory began in 1085 and large parts of the original building still remain.

It was originally part of a larger monastery and was built on land belonging to Westminster Abbey.

The Tower was built by the same masons who made Gloucester Cathedral.

It fell into disrepair after Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries and wasn't fully restored until the 1860's.
