A pole dancer from Droitwich is counting the days to the Italian Grand Prix, when she will be rubbing shoulders with the F1 motor racing teams. Pamela Waterlow danced her way back to health, following the diagnosis of a benign Meningioma brain tumour in early 2008, and she has been raising money ever since for her local Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group (WBTSG).
A passion for F1Now she has come up with a plan that combines her love of F1 racing whilst also supporting the WBTSG. Pam said: "I love watching the Grand Prix; as I'm a huge fan of Brawn GP and Jenson Button, I thought, how can I combine my F1 passion and raise awareness of the Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group at the same time? "Then I had 'my eureka moment' and began writing to all the F1 teams, and I can't believe that I've been lucky enough to now be invited to meet the Renault and Williams F1 teams!" The Grand Prix takes place on Sunday 13 September 2009, and Pam said: "I can't wait to get to Monza, with my partner Steve, to meet the teams. "They've been great and [have] agreed to sign a WBTSG polo-shirt and a Union Jack flag to support the group, which will then be auctioned off for the benefit of the group. ![]() Jensen Button (Photo: Getty Images) "The whole experience is going to be fantastic." Inspired by a 10-year-oldThe support group was set up following the death of ten year old Frances, the daughter of Rosemary and John Wormington. Frances lost her battle against a malignant brain tumour at the end of 2007, and now the WBTSG offers support and information to brain tumour sufferers and families from across the region. last updated: 02/09/2009 at 14:52 SEE ALSOYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > People > Stories about people > Dancer in pole position at Monza |
