Here are some of the bands he saw, and his recollections of the early days of punk. Send your memories to worcester@bbc.co.uk These were the concert dates between 1970 and 1979 which I went to. Procul Harum cancelled their date, only to be replaced by the Pewke Band for a reduced ticket price of 65p, which was expensive for just a pub band at the time. ![]() Billy Idol Quintessence got banned for handing out joss sticks at their February '71 gig. It was so hot at the Stranglers gig, all the side doors to the hall had to be opened, allowing non-ticket holders free entry. Hugh Cornwell commented to the crowd of spitting punks at the front that he was glad to see they had read the article in the Sun newspaper about twattish punks spitting at the band. Billy Idol was covered in spit at the end of the Generation X concert - disgusting.
