The Friday Session Introducing...

Explosive Set

It's the Friday Session Introducing... The Valuable Fools.

The Valuable Fools

Now in their ninth year, the Worcestershire band has recently released a recording of their work called 'What's Next, Dad?' - which is on sale in record shops.

Steve, from the band, has been in the stage crew for Madonna, AC/DC and The Pogues - but apparently we're not allowed to ask him about the injuries he sustained as a result of a stage cannon mis-firing!

Features

Festival Time!

The annual WestFest returns to Malvern this weekend - one month early.

Malvern WestFest

The event normally takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, but has been moved back to July because of the lighter nights.

This year's line-up looks like this: West Malvern Primary School 11.30am, West Malvern Irish Dancers 11.45am, The Jenny Hallam Trio 12.15pm, Zen Archeray 1pm, Unkle Monty 1.30pm, BabaJack 2.15pm, Titled Smile 2.45pm, Malthouse Passage 3.30pm, The Pewke Band 4pm, The Roving Crows 4.45pm, The Cohen Brothers 5.30pm, Flatword 6.15pm, Rhondda 6.45pm, Treefrogs 6.45pm, Mamma M 8pm, Matt Woosey & The Strange Rain 8.45pm, Hagglebag 9.25pm.

New Album

The Worcester bubblegum pop outfit Will Dance For Chocolate are releasing their debut album this week.

Will Dance For Chocolate

The female-fronted group joined us for a live session last year in both our studios and on the Friday Session Introducing stage the Marr's Bar as part of the Worcester Music Festival.

Hear how they're getting on with the planning for Thursday's launch as we preview some of the tracks from their forthcoming release.

Songs Of Praise

Worcester singer/songwriter Lexie Stobie is appearing on BBC 1's Songs Of Praise this weekend.

Lexie Stobie

It's not the first time the 18-year-old from Deansway has appeared on the programme.

Making her third performance on-air, Lexie can normally be found singing about Christianity at All Saints Church in Worcester, while also gracing the stages of various live music venues in the Midlands.

I Wish It Could Be Christmas... In July!

He formed The Move, was the driving force behind the Electric Light Orchestra, and later wrote one of the biggest Christmas singles of all time - in a Worcestershire recording studio.

Bruno Gallone

Tonight we talk about Roy Wood, with a local musician who supported him, on tour, last Saturday.

Bruno Gallone's also worked with the likes of The Jam and Bananarama - and has recently been running the Battle Of The Acoustic Acts in his home town.

We'll bring you the full list of what's happening in Herefordshire and Worcestershire at 7.40pm. If you have an event you'd like publicised, email fridaysession@bbc.co.uk

Andy O'Hare will be here with this week's Hare Piece at 7.30pm & 8.30pm. He goes to more gigs than anyone else we've met in the two counties (and doesn't get paid)! If you've been to a good gig, or seen a great DJ, get in touch.

Your Voicemails

Plus it's your chance to be on the radio in Your Voicemails at 8.40pm. Just call 0845 300 5006* with a gig review, an event to publicise, a general comment or request.
