Clare Teal

UK Jazz Star Clare Teal popped into BBC Hereford & Worcester to talk about her career, her Jazz influences and starting out her working life in Worcester, however, it was nothing to do with music!

Clare Teal is a jazz singer, who's famous not only for her singing, but also for having signed the biggest ever recording-deal by a British jazz singer.

Clare developed an interest in jazz from an early age, thanks to her father's collection of records, and fell in love with big band singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Loss.

She studied music at Wolverhampton University, but when she found herself without her clarinet for an unexpected exam, she decided to sing instead and realised that she loved singing in public.
