Although his body was never found, she finds his name on a First World War Memorial and re-reads his last letter home.
At Thiepval in France, Katy finds the name of a long lost relative engraved on the memorial.  Katy She knows very little about Second Lieutenant Ashley McGain, except that he lived on the Isle of Mann. She does have a copy of the last letter he wrote home to his mother, a few days before being killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
