The views from the cathedral tower in Hereford are magnificent - though its quite a climb up the 218 steps to get there.

If you can't make the climb you can still enjoy the view by looking at our panoramic picture, taken from the top of the tower.

The central tower dates back to 1319 - once the cathedral had two towers, but the west tower collapsed on Easter Monday 1786, causing a huge amount of damage to the nave.

There are ten bells in the tower, 140 feet up - tours of the towers include the Lantern Gallery and Ringing Chamber.

Restoration work on the cathedral tower is currently restricting access – please check availability before you visit.

The contact number for parties visiting the cathedral is 01432 374202.
