The Friday Session 09.11.07
100% local music from across Herefordshire & Worcestershire
It's the Friday Session Introducing... The Irony.
The Evesham four-piece have been capturing the interests of their audiences with their deep and meaningful lyrics.
The Irony were one of the bands to play at the Evesham Rock Festival in front of 500 people, before embarking on a tour encompassing Hammersmith, Camden and the Cavern Club in Liverpool (pictured).
Ten years after their hit singles 'If You're Thinking Of Me', 'Staying Out For The Summer' and 'Good Enough', the 90's Brit-pop trio Dodgy were due to hit the road for a full UK comeback tour, this week.
Unfortunately, Andy (the guitarist) hit the floor instead, breaking his arm after falling out of bed!
So the tour's off - but not completely - hear what they have in store for the nation when we join the lead singer Nigel Clark from Worcestershire on this week's show.
Not just sauce
We're speaking to Chris Bennion, the man behind the listings website notjustsauce.co.uk
In fact, Chris is one of only four people who actually make Worcestershire sauce - but he feels the county should be recognised for more than just the bottle!
He's now set up worcestermusicforum.co.uk - and will be explaining the reason behind the site on this week's show.
Adding Stourport to the music map
We'll be joined by Eva McIntyre, who's starting a brand new night in Stourport.
Until now, the town's been fairly quiet on the local music circuit - but Eva hopes to change all that.
She's now using a renovated church, putting on a bar, and throwing open the doors to live music - with the first event taking place this Thursday.
After 7.30pm, Lucie P will bring you the full list of what's happening around Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
If you have an event you'd like publicised, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Andy O'Hare has been out, reviewing gigs all over the two counties.
Hear his views on the local music scene, and let us know what's hot and what's not in your area by calling 0784 100 44 84.
If you're organising an event and want to hear it on the radio, then why not give us a bell on 0784 100 44 84.
NB: The Friday Session won't be broadcast on 94.7FM this week because of live sport (Hereford v Leeds).
