Joe Allen & Angharad Jenkins
A young singer/songwriter who's travelled the length and breadth of the country to get his music heard.
Joe was born in Redditch during the mid-eighties, and has followed his passion for music through by studying for a degree at Oxford.
In recent years, Joe has been developing a reputation for his songwriting and amazing voice through live shows all over the UK.
An accomplished pianist, Joe took up the acoustic guitar in 2004 and that now forms the backbone of his live acoustic sets.
In November 2004, he reached the finals of a national music competition after winning two local and regional heats.
In 2005, Joe met up with violinist Angharad Jenkins who now regularly performs as part of his live set up.
Angharad Jenkins is from Swansea and has been playing the violin since the age of seven.
Although classically trained, Angharad developed a keen interest in traditional folk music when she had the chance to go to Falun in Sweden during 2003 - an international folk music festival for young people.
This was a big milestone in her musical career; it was here she really fell in love with her instrument and decided she would like to make a living from her music.
Although folk is Angharad's main fiddle style, she likes to experiment with other genres as much as possible.
She's recently found an interest in jazz violin, and is about to join a drum and bass orchestra, The Frankinstyle Collective.
You can listen to all the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session, every week from 7pm, on BBC Hereford & Worcester.
