From humble beginnings the future seems bright for Bubba as they spread their unique vibe to the masses.
Bubba formed in 1995 in the modest setting of some pub outbuildings, but this humble venue was soon to reverberate with an intoxicating fusion of dance, acid jazz, funk and R&B - the like of which the band's hometown of Hereford had never seen before.
The eight-piece group formed with one simple mission in mind - tired of travelling miles to reach quality gigs and DJs, they assembled to bring the vibe to them, and quickly accrued a mass following for their elaborate shows that mixed DJs with their own set for an unparalleled musical experience.
As word spread, bookings rolled in from all over the country and the band embarked on a busy period of extensive touring, playing alongside top artists like Beautiful South, Tony De Vit and Judge Jules, as well as sharing the stage with many other well known artists.
The schedule soon began to take its toll and the original line-up was gradually whittled down to a hard core of four; brothers Jon and Robert Sidwell on drums, percussion and vocals, Dayne Cranenburgh on bass and John Chapman on guitar.
December 1999 saw the release of their long-awaited debut album Experience The Vibe - which features not only the eclectic musical mix that has made the band such a refreshing experience, but also benefits from being recorded live, capturing the vitality and energy of one of the most exciting things to grace the British music scene in years.
Bubba will continue to exploit new technology and mixing techniques and promises more of the same on a much grander scale for the future.
You can listen to all the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session, every week from 7pm on BBC Hereford & Worcester.
