Jo Yapp diary - part twelve

Jo Yapp is usually the P.E. teacher at Bewdley High School. Join her in our exclusive diary as she captains the England team at the 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup...

Jo Yapp

The 2006 Six Nations Grand Slam winners, who are ranked second for the tournament behind the reigning World champions the Black Ferns, will be led by Worcester scrum-half Jo Yapp.

Jo, whose family farm in Clee Hill, is a P.E. teacher at Bewdley High School.

This is her 3rd World Cup after representing England in Holland in 1998 and Spain in 2002.

England prepared for the tournament with a three week programme in England and five days training in Calgary.

Throughout the tournament BBC Hereford and Worcester will be running an exclusive diary from Jo in Canada.

Saturday 9 September

This morning the atmosphere at breakfast was really good - everyone was still on a high after beating France.

We were all relieved and satisfied that we are through to the semi-finals.

People were generally still pretty tired though, and used most of the day to rest and recover.

A lot of the players went out to lunch, but we only went out locally as we needed to be back for our physio and massage sessions.

In the afternoon we analysed yesterday's game.

There were definitely lots of good aspects to our game, but at the same time there is also a lot we want to improve before we play Canada on Tuesday.

Tonight, we've got a players' quiz.

I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow - don't expect an impressive performance!
