Lou Vincent

Vincent made a huge impact on his Test debut in 2001, when he scored a maiden century against Australia. He then went on to make a half-century in the second innings to become only one of a handful of players to score 100 and a 50 on debut.

Lou Vincent
Born:11/11/1978
Place of birth:Warkworth, Auckland, Australia
Profession:Cricketer
Description:New Zealander who enjoyed a short spell playing in Australia, before scoring some impressive figures for his home team and joining Worcestershire.

Lou Vincent was born in the small town of Warkworth near Auckland in 1978.

He became interested in cricket at a very early age as his dad, Mike, used to represent Eden-Roskill in first grade cricket and took Lou too all the international matches at Eden Park.

At the age of 12, his parents went their separate ways - taking Mike and Lou to Adelaide in Australia, where they began playing in the age-tournaments.

After many disputes between him and his coach, he decided to move back to New Zealand when he was 18, after he was left out of several key age-group games.

But when he returned home, he got the break he was hoping for - a chance to play for the New Zealand under-19 side in the 1998 Youth World Cup.

Off season, he teamed up with Esholt Cricket Club in England, while continuing to score high figures at all the big-named clubs with New Zealand.

Nowadays, he can regulary be found on the pitch at New Road playing for Worcestershire.
