My name is Paul Bye, I retired three years ago after working in the wine trade for over 30 years, I took early retirement to persue my lifelong passion of film making. For many years I have wanted to make a film of the River Severn from its source at Plynlimon down to the sea.
About two years ago I contacted Brian Draper MBE who has written many books on the river and who is one of this country's leading authorities.

Together we set out to make a video film of the many interesting towns and stories along the river. We have visited over 30 churches along the river, seen all the 100 plus bridges included film of the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgenorth to Bewdley, and taken the steamer from Stourport to Worcester. This has taken us over 18 months to make and was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In all I took over 17 hours of film which I have edited into just under one hour, I have had copies made in DVD and VHS tape.
We have just started planning our next project "The River Avon, Shakespeare's river" and plan to start shooting this spring. |
