You are now
Your baby can now hear sounds from the outside world. Why not try playing some music to your tummy! Your baby now has eyebrows and eyelashes, finger nails and toe nails - it can even suck its thumb. Fine, downy hair called lanugo is protecting your baby's delicate skin while helping to keep your baby's body at a constant temperature. Lanugo disappears a few weeks before birth, as by that time your baby has enough fat to stay warm!

This is an exciting week as you may be able to feel the first fluttering movements of your baby. Don't worry if you can't - it's still early days. 'Quickening' (as these first flutters are called) is more common to happen later. If you've chosen to have an amniocentesis, you'll have it about now - the results take a few days to come back. You'll probably see your midwife this week, you could have a think about any questions you'd like to ask. Make a list, forgetfulness is common in pregnancy!
Pregnancy health: Receiving endless advice? Feeling stressed out? Your baby may be too. Stress can be transmitted to your baby so try to find ways to relieve it. You could simply count to ten and take some deep breaths. Or talk through your problems with your partner or a friend. If work is stressing you out, talk to your boss or HR person, they may be able to help.
