Symbol of Skomer - the popular Puffin.

Skomer is a spectacular island renowned for its sea bird colonies, which are amongst the most important habitats in North West Europe. The island lies to the south west of the Marloes Peninsula of Pembrokeshire.

The island's isolation means that it is protected from predators such as rats, cats, dogs and foxes, and also from the human impact on the mainland.

Isles of Scilly

The Isles of Scilly are the most isolated and possibly the most beautiful islands in Britain, located 30 miles off the South West mainland.

"When you think about it the British Isles is a nation of islands.

There are more than 6,000 islands around our coast and quite often they're amazing places to go to see natural spectacles."
