On Tuesday, 11th November 2008 the world famous liner Queen Elizabeth II (QE2) will depart from Southampton Docks on her final voyage to her permanent home as a floating hotel in Dubai. Discover the best vantage points on the map below and find out about the itinerary on the night:

Itinerary: Key Events


  • 19:15 GMT: QE2 leaves her berth in the Eastern Docks for the last time and heads towards the Western Docks and the Middle Swinging Ground where she will turn and be held in position off Mayflower Park.

  • 19:40 GMT: Spectacular firework display with QE2 in the foreground. Excellent view available from Mayflower Park.

  • 20:00 GMT: QE2 sails past her berth for the last time accompanied by flares. Please see the map above for information on the best vantage points to see the ship as she sails along Southampton Water and into the Solent.
