ICANDI only started in February this year, but already word of this bizarre, fun night out has spread throughout the Island. The idea for the project started when Island artist Paul Brown got together with Kim Purton and decided to start up a music and arts organisation, to bring art to the people. Help playing audio/video "Our ethos being that we wanted to take art out of the usual sphere of art galleries, which can sometimes be daunting and intimidating." explains Kim. The events see the team take over a venue, fill it with contemporary art and music and then throw in some fun, in the shape of some interactive live art. Guests can sketch away at their tables, send in text messages to be projected on the wall and even create unique pieces of art with paint-covered remote controlled cars. If you fancy liberating the artist in you, ICANDI will be serving up a mixture of music from unsigned Island bands and DJ's in Newport this month. Thursday 28 November, Joe's Cafe Bar and Restaurant, Newport.last updated: 06/11/07 You are in: Hampshire > Entertainment > Music > Features > ICANDI External Links
