BBC RaW’s Family Story Festival 2007

A two day travelling storytelling festival visited Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard during the last weekend of September.

The free event featured a whole range of storytelling activities – from quick and easy story writing workshops to animation and puppetry.

The festival brought the wacky characters from BBC RaW’s Max & Lara’s Amazing Travelling Space Circus family activity pack to life over the two days.

Jugglers, clowns and face-painters were on hand to entertain children, while local storytellers brought magical tales to life, inspiring parents and grandparents.

RaW is the BBC’s biggest ever campaign that aims to help adults across the UK read and write better.  There are currently 12 million adults in the UK who struggle with reading and writing.

If you have kids and you’d like to help them read better, or you’d like to read them better stories, RaW can help.  Visit bbc.co.uk/raw for more information.
