East Hampshire gets it's own mini Glastonbury this September as the Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield plays host to the first ButserFest. The bands will be playing on Butser Hill within the park, high on the South Downs. ![]() Day of Rising Young bands across the area are getting geared up for what will be the biggest gig of their careers so far, appearing alongside some of the best up-and-coming bands in the country. The main line-up has been confirmed as: Alternative Carpark, Pickled Dick, Vallenbrosa, The Weather Committee, Furthest Drive Home, Linchpin, Day Of Rising and Elliot Minor! Bob Coleman, East Hampshire District Council's Community and Youth Democracy worker is one of the organisers of the event: "The festival ... is aimed mainly at teenagers, those in bands who want a chance to play, and those who love music and find it difficult to travel to other events." There will be all sorts of other entertainment bungee runs, weird and wonderful entertainers and drumming and didgeridoo workshops. The council is hoping to attract about 2,000 people to the festival, and if it is successful say it could become an annual event.
