Hailing from Portsmouth, One Life Left have been together since October 2003. They've become firmly-established live favourites on the south coast gigging scene, and Chris, Simon, Ben and Joe - who found the name One Life Left on a T-shirt - performed a couple of tracks for BBC Radio Solent's new and unsigned music show South:Live. The tracks, Icicle Lines and Roadkill, show off the band's slightly edgy but tune-filled sound to good effect. In their time, the band have played some pretty unusual gigs, including one inside a Gosport prison - "We'll play anywhere, even if we have to get arrested to go in there", quips Chris. They also once played a slightly unsettling session on boat. Explains Simon, "We were playing on a club night on a cruise around the Solent - I think we went around Spitbank Fort a few times - let's just say that I think that my vocal range wasn't the only thing coming out of my mouth!" Drum and bass The band have also found themselves in the unlikely position of being played on a show by drum and bass artists Grooverider and Fabio, after a track of theirs was given the drum and bass remix treatment. Says Chris: "There's guy on the drum and bass scene called John Bee, and a friend of his produced a demo for us. We've got a track called Freedom Failure, and he heard it and decided he wanted to do a drum and bass remix of it to put on his album. "It's great, but we kind of got behind on the paperwork, and it came out before we realised it. But it's a really good remix and I'd definitely recommend it." South:Live
