Tim Daykin

When Tim Daykin was sent home early from Sunday School for being naughty he never thought he would end up as a Church of England vicar - or presenting Sunday morning programmes for the BBC!

Whether it's tea and toast in bed, or the' full English', Sunday breakfast isn't quite the same without Tim Daykin.

Inspirational music coupled with lively conversation and guests from the faith communities provide a unique mix at the start of a special day.

Tim rounds up the religious news from the week, discovers more about his guest's individual faith journeys and visits places of worship around the Solent region.

As well as producing and presenting religious programmes for BBC Radio Solent, Scunthorpe-born Tim is also a vicar working in the centre of Southampton.

After studying chemistry at the university of London's Royal Holloway College in the early 1970s, Tim went on to train as a minister in Durham and then spent several years as a part time church history research student at King's College London.

Married to Ruth since 1975, Tim believes that religion is not just about musty churches and misery but should reflect life in all its fullness. After several years contributing Morning Thoughts on Solent Today doing "rent-a-gob" on religious issues (that's what he calls it), the bosses asked him to take over the regular Sunday morning progamme.

A few weeks before Christmas 2004 Tim became a grandad for the first time when baby Ian joined the family - Tim hasn't stopped smiling since!

Listen to Tim every Sunday morning from 6-9am.
