My Life as a Bahá'í

Parvaneh Farid, an Iranian who now lives in Hedge End is a member of the Bahá'í faith. Click on the audio link on this page to listen to Parvaneh talking about her faith to BBC Radio Solent's Sunday morning breakfast presenter Tim Daykin.

Iran is often thought of as a Muslim country, as the majority of the population are followers of Islam. But there's also a significant community of Bahá'í's whose faith was also founded in Iran.

The Bahá'í faith is an independent religion and has now spread around the world, and after Christianity is the largest widespread religion.

Parvaneh Farid, an Iran-born Bahá'í who now lives Hedge End explains what the faith stands for:

"The Bahá'í Faith stands for peace and unity across the globe.   Bahá’u’lláh the founder of the Bahá'í faith was born in Iran in 1817 and so it was towards the end of the 19th century that he declared his mission."
