The Clarendon Way

Advice:Clarendon Way is a great walk to take a weekend over, or to split into smaller chunks with the aid of a car and some easy navigation. The walk covers some steep hilly sections.
In Brief:A walk joining the two Wessex cities of Winchester and Salisbury through villages, woodland and downlands with far-ranging views.
Start:A36, Salisbury. The Way leaves Salisbury via Milford Street to Milford Road and Queen Manor Road. Through Rangers Farm.
Points of interest:The site of Clarendon Palace, a royal hunting lodge for Norman Kings. Oliver’s Battery, a hill from which the Roundheads bombarded Winchester. St Catherine's Hill which was a centre of human settlement around 3,000 years ago.
