Interactivity: Approval Forms

Interactivity Approval Forms

Approval forms for Competitions, Audience Voting, BBC Awards and Telephony are now electronic and fully automated. They are available at the ITACU Interactivity Management System. A password will need to be requested if you do not already have one.

Audio & Music

Approval forms for Competitions, Votes and Awards must be filled in by the Executive Producer or Editor and authorised by the relevant Station Controller and the Head of Editorial Standards, A&M (Paul Smith).  Copies of the signed forms are to be retained by the production department and the Head of Editorial Standards. 

Approval forms for the use of Premium Rate telephony must be filled in by the Executive Producer or Editor and authorised by the relevant Station Controller and the Head of Editorial Standards, A&M.  Copies of the signed forms are to be retained by the production department and the Head of Editorial Standards. 

Approval forms for the use of non-Premium Rate telephony must be filled in by the Executive Producer or Editor and authorised by the Head of Editorial Standards, A&M.  Copies of the signed forms are to be retained by the production department and the Head of Editorial Standards.

BBC Vision

Approval Forms must be filled in by the Executive Producer and authorised by the relevant Commissioning Controller or Production Controller. For CBBC and CBeebies programmes authorisation is by Controller, Childrens and for daytime/early peak programmes, by Controller, Daytime. Copies of the signed forms to be retained by both Production and the relevant Controller’s office.

BBC News

For all news output authorisation in by the Head Of Multimedia Programmes (Steve Mitchell).

Global News

For BBC World, approval forms will be filled in by the Head of Programmes (or designated deputy) and authorised by the Editorial Director. Copies of the signed forms will be retained by the Editorial Director's office.

For BBC World Service, approval forms should be authorised by the Director English Networks and News.

Nations & Regions

In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales Approval Forms must be filled in by the relevant Editor or Executive Producer and submitted via the usual management chain (eg Head of Programmes/Commissioner) for authorisation by the Controller of the appropriate Nation.

In England, approval Forms must be filled in by the relevant Editor and submitted via Heads of Region to Liz Munro, Compliance Manager for Andy Griffee, Controller to authorise.

In all cases, copies of the signed forms must be retained by the programme/production area and the relevant Controller’s office and also sent to Leo Devine, Head of Journalism Development for N&R.

BBC Sport

Approval forms must be filled in by either the Executive Producer or the Editor of the programme and authorised, in turn, by the relevant Head, Dave Gordon in his role monitoring compliance for Sport and by the Director of Sport Roger Mosey.

MC&A

Approval Forms for MC&A-originated competitions must be filled in by the relevant channel/network or service Head of Communications or Head of Marketing and authorised by the MC&A Head of Editorial Standards & Compliance, with a copy sent to the Director of MC&A. Copies of the signed forms to be retained by both the originator and the authorisor.

FMT

Approval forms must be filled in by the relevant service senior editor and authorisation will be by Managing Editor, Internet.

Copies of the signed forms should be sent to Michelle Rogers in the accountability team.
