Equipment Policy Ref 01
Equipment attached to the BBC Networks must be fit for purpose and cost effective.
Equipment Policy Ref 02
Equipment attached to the BBC Network must be from approved suppliers.
Equipment Policy Ref 03
Equipment attached to the BBC Networks must meet the relevant approved specifications, including BBC Health and Safety requirements.
Equipment Policy Ref 04
Equipment attached to the BBC Networks must be either owned by the BBC or covered by an approved legal agreement with the specific 3rd party.
Equipment Policy Ref 05
Equipment attached to the BBC networks must have a unique ID and a registered
BBC contact.
Equipment Policy Ref 06
All PC's located in public areas of BBC premises which are for use by members of
the public, must have restricted access to the internet to those sites owned by
the BBC and its associated companies:-
- BBC Online
- Beeb.com
- BBC Technology
- BBC Resources
- BBC Worldwide
- BBC World Service
Equipment Policy Ref 07
All PC's located in public areas of BBC premises which are for use by members of
the public must not have any device that would allow "data" to be loaded onto or
copied from the PC, e.g. no A drive; no CD ROM reader / writer.

All purchases have to comply with the
Technical Investment and Procurement policies.
Equipment Policy Ref 09
Specified categories of equipment must be housed in approved locations.
Equipment Policy Ref 10
Equipment added to the BBC Networks which can enable a link outside must only be
linked after approval for third party access.
Equipment Policy Ref 11
Where a server build exists for a specific server function, e.g. Desktop
Resource, On-Line, Intranet, that build must be used unless specifically
approved otherwise.
Equipment Policy Ref 12
For all equipment that has virus software installed, a user cannot disable the
virus software.
Equipment Policy 13
The BBC will maintain up to date registers of all its technology assets.
