Do you recognise the boy in this photo?

In the lead up to Liberation Day 2010 local chocalatier Ben Le Prevost is planning on making a commemorative chocolate, but wants to find out something first.

Liberation Day 1945

This photo of a school boy receiving a chocolate bar from a British soldier is thought to have been taken in St Peter Port on 9 May 1945, the day that Guernsey was liberated from German occupation.

The photo was passed to local confectionary maker Ben Le Prevost who plans to create a special chocolate for the 65th anniversary of the Liberation in 2010.

Ben wants to find the boy in the photo and hear his story as inspiration for his new creation.

Ben started his career as a pastry chef

Ben Le Prevost was one of the finalists in the Bright Ideas competition, which supports new business ventures. He said the bar will be simply packaged and feature a copy of a wartime identity card.

Ben hopes to sell the chocolate bar during 2010 and said there had already been a lot of interest even with more than six months to go until the celebration.

Some of the money raised from sales will be given to the Help for Heroes charity.
