FeaturesYou are in: Guernsey > Unsigned Bands > Features > Sounds of Summer 2009 ![]() Dub Pistols played the Vale Earth Fair Sounds of Summer 2009While Glastonbury, V, and Reading may be the UK's big festival in the summer season, Guernsey has it fair of musical events too from the Chaos Weekend to the Vale Earth Fair. ![]() Los Albertos on Liberation Day Guernsey's busy musical summer started with the celebration of the island's Liberation. All three of the piers in St Peter Port featured live music from Brighton's Los Albertos rubbing shoulders with The Risk on the Vale Earth Fair stage on the Albert Pier to the swing music and sea shanties on the North Beach. The Vale Earth Fair continued the march towards their main festival with the most successful Beach Life event yet as more than 2000 people descended on Petit Bot for a day of music featuring relaxed acoustica in the garden to desert rock 'n' roll and hip-hop by the slipway. ![]() Bryn of Nemesis (photo by Andy Le Poidevin) As June drew to a close the Greenman Motorcycle club took over Pleinmont for the the fifth year in a row for their annual Chaos Weekend music festival and bike show. Headlined by local power metallers Nemesis the weekend was the biggest yet with many camping on site and live music across three stages. ![]() General Shacks at Chateau De Sound As the summer rolled on so did the Vale Earth Fair Collective's fund raising drive as Chateau De Marais saw Chateau De Sound take place for a second year. Headlined by UK band Wobbly Squadron the day also saw performances from Jersey's Benny The Moth and Guernsey's own About An Hour amongst many others. Despite the wind and rain The Fullboar Motorcycle club's Hogwash took place with live music from Sheffield's Guns 'n' Oatcakes playing alongside No Paparazzi and 2 Minutes 2 Late. ![]() Murky of Brutus Stonefist at the Earth Fair The festival season was drawn to a close over the bank holiday weekend at the end of August with Guernsey's longest running and biggest music festival the Vale Earth Fair.
