School Report 2009: Les Beaucamps

Students from Les Beaucamps High School took part in School Report on Wednesday 25 March 2009.

BBC News School Report gives students across Britain the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience.

BBC Guernsey's Jim Cathcart, Gary Burgess and Laura Simpson visited Les Beaucamps to see how the students' journalistic skills were developing.

The day was the result of weeks of preparations - looking at what makes a news story, where news comes from, how to write news and how to prioritise stories.

BBC Guernsey built a radio studio in the English classroom at Les Beaucamps High School and the children produced and presented their own ten minute bulletin including news, sport, travel and weather.

Two students Gemma and Genevieve worked with BBC Channel Islands News' Alex South to produce a report on Cervical Cancer and the HPV vaccination.
