Teddy Bear Chain World Record

The people and teddies join hands

Teddy Bear Chain World Record

A chain of 1714 islanders and 1713 teddy bears on Pembroke beach broke the world record.

Despite rain and cloud on the evening of Friday 27 June 2008 more than a 1000 people than expected arrived at Pembroke Beach to take part in a world record attempt.

The weather did not dampen the turnout

With 700 islanders already registered breaking the previous record of 631 people and 630 teddies was already on the cards but with the extra thousand it was smashed.

It was all part of a fundraising and awareness-raising event for the Guernsey Multiple Sclerosis Society and more than £4,000 was donated to the charity.

With so many people and teddies it took almost an hour for the chain to be formed and counted.
