Meet Nick Crane

Best known for his work as a presenter on the BBC’s Coast and Map Man series, Nick is a rare combination: an expert cartographer, historian and explorer, with the charisma and enthusiasm to bring his obsessions alive for others.

As well as television, public-speaking and journalism, Nick’s also published several acclaimed and award-winning books of his own journeys. Clear Waters Rising is an account of 17 months spent walking the mountain watershed of Europe. And Two Degrees West recounts a trip along Britain’s central meridian. He has also recently written an autobiography of the 16th century genius Gerald Mercator – Mercator: The Man who Mapped the Planet.

“Nicholas Crane is one of the world’s incandescent enthusiasts.” The Guardian

“He presents so triumphantly that you can’t help sharing his thrill of discovery.” The Times

“A man with adventure in his soul and a talent for communicating his passion… Crane is something of a treasure.” The Daily Mail
