Moving into a new area is never an easy task. It takes time to find your feet and work out what's where, which isn't particularly easy if you don't have a car and live in one of the county's more rural areas. Why? Because the bus service is terrible.

I live in Dymock and trying to get into Gloucester town centre in time for work is proving to be a nightmare. I have a choice of the 7.18am bus, or the 9.48am. That's it!

Bus user Nick

The former gets me in more than an hour early and the latter one, well forget it. I'd be nearly an hour and a half late.

The morning commute and I have the choice of one bus. And this morning, I wasn't even that fortunate.

Early morning mayhem

As the bus time was printed incorrectly I missed my one and only means of transport. My choices, let us say, were suddenly rather limited.

I waited in the cold for half an hour, just to make sure the bus wasn't running behind schedule, and then decided to do the only thing left available to me: I smiled sweetly and stuck out my thumb.

Thankfully, a very kind lady picked me up and we spent the ride into Gloucester moaning about public transport.

...But not if you live in the countryside.

Hitting the town

And how about going out in the evening? It would be nice to see what Gloucester has to offer in the evening, maybe try and meet some new people, but as the last bus of the night leaves Dymock at 5.28pm, I wouldn't even be home from work in time to take advantage of it.

So, it's another night in with the TV. Either that or I stay out all night in Gloucester and trundle into work the next day wearing the same clothes.

Do you experience the same problems? Are local buses getting you down? Want to have a good moan about it? Then go ahead!
