Born
into a musical family in Birmingham in 1948 Steve was playing guitar
with brother Muff and their father in the Ron Atkinson Band at the
age of eight.
He
soon mastered drums and piano and in 1963 he burst into prominence
in the Spencer Davis Group.
Winwood
has an impressive industry back catalogue. His celebrated skills
as a composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist underpin a popular
music career which has seen him play an integral part in The Spencer
Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith.
His
solo career has also been a fruitful one and has earned him two
Grammies. His new studio release, About Time also coincides with
the launch of his new record label, Wincraft.
Steve
Winwood now lives in Gloucestershire and his new album was recorded
in the county at Wincraft Studios.
You
can listen to tracks from his album on the BBC
Music site or see him live at the Cheltenham Town Hall in
