Dino, Jeni, Jake and Skinz make up Gloucester rock outfit Murdoc. They describe their sound as "driving guitar music with big fat vocal harmonies" and the vibe is distinctly upbeat rock.

We've worked really hard writing our own stuff and developing our sound and it seems to be paying off.

Dino - Murdoc

"Our influences range from likes of AC/DC and the Foo Fighters to the Beatles," said lead guitarist and vocalist Dino. "We've only been together for a while but already we seem to be doing quite well."

In fact since forming last November Murdoc seem to have enjoyed nothing but success. They won the Coleford battle of the bands and only a week later they were invited to play the main stage at the Coleford Festival.

Next came a telephone call from the Guildhall in Gloucester asking them to play on the main stage at this year's Gloucester Festival.

"It feels great'" said Dino. "We've worked really hard writing our own stuff and developing our sound and it seems to be paying off."

"We have a lot of energy when we play live and people really get into it. In fact at the Coleford Festival we attracted a bigger crowd than Demob!"

Murdoc have just recorded their first five track demo which they managed to lay down in just one day - ( must be a record);-) And the band also have their music on the radio 1 website where they were chosen for review out of thousands of other bands.

Murdoc are confident that they can go the distance in the music business and once they achieve that elusive record contract they see themselves recording albums and touring well into the future.

It's good being part of the new scene in Gloucester. Venues have started to really support bands like us and with the Pig Inn the City and the Brunswick getting original bands to play it feels like things are changing in the county.

Dino - Murdoc

"It's good being part of the new scene in Gloucester. Venues have started to really support bands like us and with the Pig Inn the City and the Brunswick getting original bands to play it feels like things are changing in the county.

"Younger people are getting more into rock with bands like Busted around. I'm not a fan of Busted but I appreciating that the genre helps people like us."

Murdoc have now played around 12 gigs since they first got together and you can catch them on the main stage at the Gloucester Festival this year and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more from them than that!
