It
was the first stop in a tour of 27 towns and cities across the UK
for the BBC Big Challenge Roadshow .
Expert
advice
On
offer at the Eastgate Shopping Centre for those wanting to shed
the extra pounds put on over Christmas were one-to-one
consultations with a dietician, expert advice on simple steps to
take towards a healthier lifestyle, fun exercise demonstrations
including belly dancing, yoga, 'body pump', and jive and street
dance.
The
focus was on simple, easily achievable lifestyle changes with a
fun flavour.
Secrets
One
of those who got involved at the Big Challenge Roadshow was
70-year-old Eileen Tyler from Gloucester (right) who tried a bit
of yoga, and let us in on the secrets of her healthy lifestyle.
Impromptu
lesson
Lynne
Kelly, from Cheltenham, was another who plucked up the courage to
take part in the Big Challenge Roadshow.
She
got involved in an impromptu jazzjive lesson with James Hamilton
of the Rock Dance Company.
She
was cheered by a large crowd who gathered to watch as she picked
up the steps in an impressive five minutes with James' help.
"I've
always wanted to jive," she said, "and I've really got
to do something to shift my extra weight.
"It
was fantastic fun even though I'm feeling out of breath. I'm definitely
going to sign up for the jazzjive class in Cheltenham now."

James
said: "As Lynne has proved it is really easy to pick up the
basic steps.
"You
can jive to anything from 1940s swing to rock and roll to modern
pop. I hope the Big Challenge inspires a few more people to take
it up dancing for fitness - it's far more fun than going to the
gym and a great way to make new friends too."
