Every
August Fairford plays host to the Fairford Steam Rally and Show,
and this year it takes place on August 16th and 17th.
The
Fairford show is a popular event amongst steam enthusiasts, and
this year over 30 steam engines will converge on Fairford Park for
the weekend.
There
will be several visiting traction engines and other vintage vehicles
making their first appearance at what is the 34th annual show.
Among
the major attractions will be the Fowler road locomotive "Wolverhampton
Wanderer" No. 17212 built in 1929.
This
engine is possibly the only one now in existence, which has a crane
fitted to the front.

with a permanently fitted heavy lifting crane.
|
Another
first time visitor will be the genuine Burrell Showman's road locomotive
No.2668 Britannia.
Built
in 1904 this engine has spent the greater part of its working life
driving or powering a selection of show items such as a Bioscope,
Gallopers, Venetian Gondola Switchbacks, lighting for dodgem cars
and various other side shows.
