Fact file

arrowLow-carb diets involve at least two 45 minute sessions of exercise a week to keep the metabolism moving.

arrowFruit like blueberries, strawberries and blackberries can all be eaten after the first two weeks of the diet but NOT before.

arrowNuts are rich in protein and fat but they also have a carb content and therefore should be avoided in the first two weeks of the diet.

Talk to us and each other

I've been rather tired since my last entry. Let's put it another way - I haven't been able to keep my eyes.

Maybe it's the weather, or maybe I really do need that holiday but my boyfriend is convinced it's my new regime and has taken to prodding me throughout the evening to try and get some response.

I've had a look on the Internet and it seems that this is a well-reported side-effect of the low-carb diet.

Our bodies get so used to the constant throughput of sugars that they rely on this relatively short-term energy booster for energy.

The low-carb diet forces the body to draw on the sugars stored in fatty deposits and this - for me - is proving to be a rather weary process.

Not that I haven't lost weight - au contraire - I have reached my target weight already and I'm now aiming at the stubborn fat that I never thought would shift - wahey!

And believe me I'm stacking away the calories. Bacon, eggs, butter fried mushrooms, nuts, steak (with the fat ON), cream, full fat cheese, garlic fried butter prawns the list goes on and it's all accompanied by a teeny weeny green leaf salad.

The positive things I've noticed are (and click away if you have a vaguely squeamish or sensitive disposition)...

  • Disappearance of stomach bloating
  • No flatulence
  • Puffy ankles gone :-)
  • No water retention

I'm totally made up and to be honest the drawback of tiredness, which I'm sure I will overcome as my body adjusts, is nothing compared to the benefits.

In fact I'm so sold on 'low-carbing' as they say on the Internet that I'm going to keep it up after the diet has officially finished.

I still have a week and a half before my holiday and I'm concentrating on getting to the gym three times a week so I can look superfit and slim in my bikini.
