Have Your Say

What's so special out Tall Ships? Do you welcome them to Gloucester Docks? Should there be another festival next year?

Tall ships evoke a part of the past that a lot of us wish we could get back. Please have another Tall Ships Festival next year, preferably around the beginning or middle of May. Did anyone publish a book of photos on the 2007 one? Aren't we glad the warehouses weren't demolished when everything Victorian was out of fashion? Sincerely, Carrie

tall ships are a wonderful sight and a reminder of the days before noisy, smelly engines which helped to save time but destroyed the beauty and elegance of the beautiful sailing ships. Not so pratical now, but lovely to see.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT THAT THEY SHOULD BE ASKED TO RETURN NEXT YEAR AND INDEED EVERY YEAR. THEY ARE OUR HERITAGE AND HELP KEEP THE OLD TRADITIONS OF GLOUCESTER DOCKS ALIVE. I HOPE THE KATHLEEN AND MAY IS SAVED AND KEPT IN THIS COUNTRY FOR US TO SEE MANY MORE TIMES. HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR EVERYWHERE WILL BE OPEN.

there is nothing more graceful than the sight of a tall ship under full sail. As an ex navy man I would have prefered tall ships to battleships any day. The ship were a part of Gloucester for a long time and were in the docks regularly. Its a pity they had to re-locate. I thing there should definitely be a repeat of the festival every year not just next year.

love the pics! it was a shame we missed this festival - please do this again next year.Saw the ships two years ago at Bristol - A real treat, and all the crews very friendly. Been out with some of the Tall ships for a sail. - brilliant! we love the Kathleen and May especially. Thx, Alex Keen. Yeovil, Somerset.

I wished I had known about the Tall Ships Festival earlier in the year. Then I would have come to Gloucester now instead of coming in August and stayed longer. Pity ? Do it again next year.Peter Clark Ontario Canada

Tried to visit the docks on Saturday but all the carparks around the docks wee either full or closed. Why close the carpark on the docks when it was only half full??

This proved to be a fantastic afternoon out with my grandchildren aged 5 and 3 who climbed all over the ships and loved having photographs with the crew!.A great festival and just what Gloucester wants we should all be proud of its history.Hope this can be an annual event
