Well what a find this site is, I lived in Tobyfield Rd from 1952 until 1964, But I rember going to Medoway Playing field, the camp at stoke orchard and the Park, I inherited a motorbike bike from Harry Sedgwick who lived in Medoway, he was a great photographer who worked a Smiths with my Father Tony Nightingale, my mother still lives in the village, but how it has changed. The village police man used to live in St Micheals Avenue, at the age of two he found me on my Tricycle heading out towards the Farmers Arms, he took me to his house until I was reported missing, then handed back to my mum & dad, I would most lightly be put into care in this day and age. Did you know that Graham Hill the racing driver was a Smiths apprentice and lived at the park for a while.

My mother lived in Bishops Cleeve as a young girl. She was Megan Barrett, the daughter of Oliver Barrett. I was born in England and came to the U.S. with my mother and father in 1955. I was 2 years old when we came here to live. My last visit to England was 15 years ago and went back to visit family on Tobyfield Rd.I would love to hear from anyone who may have known my mother or any of her family. I have enjoyed the photos on this site and must go now to view more.Hope to hear from someone! My mom tells of stories during the war when the soldiers would give them candy and cans of peaches. Some of the places I have read about on this site I have heard her speak of so many times. She came to the states when I was 2 yrs. old. and returns to England to visit her family often. I love hearing the stories of her childhood and this website has just been so interesting. My mom has been reading it all as I have printed for her and so many of the things written here she can relate to. Its like a journey back into my moms childhood for me. I wish to thank all who have taken so much time in putting this together. I never imagined to find so much info when I did a search on Bishops Cleeve. Would you have thought this would make it to South Carolina U.S. Again thank you so much for sharing your memeories.
