Shoes for homeless
On Thursday 16th April, a group of volunteers from Young Gloucestershire got together to distribute shoes to the homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable in the county.
The event, organised by BBC Gloucestershire Outreach Manager, Camilla Bassett-Smith for CSV, saw a group of volunteers gather at GEAR and The Family Haven in Gloucester to hand out around 20 pairs of brand new and boxed shoes.
The shoes were kindly donated by PWG Trading in Cinderford from unwanted stock, and were very much appreciated by the charities.
Brian Jones from GEAR talked to the volunteers about the homeless situation in Gloucester and the work that GEAR undertake. He stressed how important the shoes were, as during the heavy snow many youngsters were on the streets of Gloucestershire with only bags on their feet.
"I am delighted that we have been able to help two very worthwhile local charities and find a good home for the shoes, which may have otherwise gone to waste" Camilla Bassett-Smith
