The West Midlands has no coastline to call its own, the closest thing is the River Severn. At over 200 miles, it’s Britain’s longest river and a route used by a surprising variety of sea life to reach food sources and spawning grounds. Nature expert and TV presenter, Miranda Krestovnikoff, journeys along the River Severn, meeting people with a fascination for the coastal wildlife. The mudflats at the estuary of the river provide a habitat for a huge number of wading birds and the opportunity for the public to get closer to these visitors by helping out with volunteering and habitat management.
