Dan
Robertson AKA DJ Callide is a young man with a mission - or two.
He
has been DJing in the county and the region for four years and recently
started to get more involved in promoting and producing the music
he loves - Drum n Bass.

He
started his professional DJing career as DJ DubLR but decided to
relaunch himself with a new name and a new vibe a short time ago.
"I
wanted to take my music to the next level as I became involved in
some big projects, and started to write music on a more professional
level - hence the name change," said Callide.
"Callide
means subtly and skillfully and that's what I'm aiming to be with
my music, subtle and skillful. Callide smiles: "You have to
promote yourself without sounding like the big I AM."
And
there's nothing of the big I AM about Callide. Although being passionate
about a DJing career he's just as interested in the scene as a whole
and supporting as many artists as possible.
"I
want the Gloucester scene to be recognised. There are some really
talented people round here and we don't want them to leave for want
of places to play and develop.
Event
"The
Gloucester Festival was fantastic this year and huge praise goes
to the organisers for putting on a really great underground event
for the young people of Gloucester."
Producing
Callide
has been producing his own tracks for about eight months now but
it is playing out that he really loves: "You can share your
own specific style and get reactions from people," he said.
"Drum
n Bass has to be mixed very tightly and the bass and treble have
to be manipulated in a creative way - it's possibly the most creative
DJ genre there is."

DJ
Callide recently told the BBC website for Gloucestershire that people
in the area were becoming increasingly disillusioned by the lack
of underground events in the city.
"It's
not just the events that are lacking," Callide added. "People
in the city need to get behind the events that do go off if they
want a thriving underground scene."
You
can next hear Callide at Bassix in Enigma on October 3 where he
will be joining DJ Brockie and MC Det.
