Sophie's diary: Week Four

Over the summer, Sophie will be keeping a record of her thoughts and achievements as Gloucestershire's Blast reporter.

Sophie's profile page contains more information about her.

Week Four

Talk about disasters - I was surprised I had something to write about this week!

I'd been trying to get in touch with a graffiti artist for a while and when I finally did it was arranged I'd send questions to him about his work.

Explorer gremlins

However, his Internet Explorer didn't work which meant I only had five days to find another article to write about. Okay, that is quite a long time, but I always like to plan weeks in advance.

Anyhow, got in touch with a street-dance company - only to find once I'd arranged the article, that BBC Gloucestershire had already written an article about it!

I thought I could possibly get away with writing my own article, but typed "Coady Crew Nikki Coady" into Google and the BBC article was the first result to come up.

Luckily, last minute, I remembered that I knew of a young poet in a local band, whom I'd heard much about through various friends. I emailed Paul, and asked if he'd be willing to take part. Being the legend he is, he agreed, saying he was "flattered".

Stressful

Even though this week was fairly stressful, as we even had our problems with the final article - attachments weren't working properly - I'm really pleased with the final article.

I found Paul's responses so interesting, and felt I couldn't edit them, or write the article in a different form, because he has written so beautifully.

Another interview

I've also added some audio from 'Heroes Welcome' who I met up with on Monday. They were great guys and were really friendly. They also were amazing with the audio, in fact, I doubt it needs editing!

Can't wait to go see them live and catch up with them later on during the Wired project.

Anyhow, look out for next week's article when I'll be writing a review about an All-dayer gig...
