The "other" guitarist is Stevie Van Zandt aka Little Stevie aka The Boss's right hand and main man. He is in The Sopranos, as Silvio Dante, wearing a dodgy Elvis style wig, and also wrote and sings the opening song for the series.

Thought the coverage of the Bruce Springsteen set was a let down after being told he was the headline act and only getting to see half the set really annoyed by the BBC. Bruce and the E Street Band are and always will be the best live concert you will ever see.

Do the BBC not proof read what they put out? The above set list is inaccurate. Bruce did not play Land of Hope and Dreams in the encore - he might have been concerned about the curfew.
Surely someone has the gumption to go through the footage? No whilst the rest of us were dealing with thunder storms and then high temperatures they sit in their off limits compound probably saying what a jolly good job they've all done up in the treehouse.

I would have thought that this may also have been noticed by viewers. But having just returned home from the festival I don't know what the coverage was like.

...well as long as they didnt get the same guy to review the footage who put up the titles during the broadcast - up came "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" while the band were playing "Thunder Road".

I thought coverage was pretty good (and better than what they put out for Neil Young... which itself was better than they put out for Neil Young in the Isle of Wight coverage - nothing!).

Wish Bruce would get Lost in the Flood, Murder Incorporated and Youngstown in every set (although see he did Youngstown at Hyde Park).

So has anyone seen any definite announcements on release of his entire Glastonbury set?

Bloody hell guys, some of you need to gain some perspective. The BBC is streaming in excellent fidelity 30 minutes or more of maybe 40 diverse artists from Glastonbury, (some of which literally finished yesterday), for free. Thats in addition to loads of primetime weekend programming, extended slots, way beyond typical tv coverage, even on niche channels.

Not having heard any build-up / advertising for Bruce I expected him to be cut off after 4 or 5 songs as is usually the case. No, we got an hour and a half of a riproaring performance, where he clearly mesmerised old Glastonbury fayre like some travelling snake oil peddler. Ive seen Bruce in the flesh several times and he was obviously on fire Saturday night. The coverage by the BBC was great and demonstrated a real commitment to an important artist who is not so typical of the Glastonbury demographic these days, balanced against their wider coverage of the younger acts.

It was one of the most inspiring Saturday evenings Ive spent at home for a long time, the weekend's coverage gave a real flavour of one of the most momentous Glastonburys on record, and to follow it up there is an absolute wealth of unique digital content now in the public domain, forever, as a result of the Beebs priorities. Well done BBC, thanks. Glastonbury has never been covered so fully, the extent of this liberal documentation of the event is unheard of, mixing up the rock legends and the young turks in line with the old cultivating and broadening remit of the Beeb. Giving us 100% bruce and letting us quietly leave without any sense of the rest of the wonders of Glastonbury would be plain irresponsible now wouldnt it?

True, if the only music you enjoy is Bruce- there wasnt 100% of his show. If you were misled by the BBC Im sure they never intended to upset you. I dont believe they are a malevolent vindictive force. Now youre here though, if you just had a look around and filled up the rest of your cart with some younger acts like florence and the machine, yeah yeah yeahs, bloc party or others then you might even leave a tiny bit happier than when you arrived at the BBC@Glatonbury site, safe in the knowledge that the boss is handing on his spirit to some worthy understudies!

    Peace!

Now Ive seen the set list i know what i missed! Would loved to have seen The Rising, Ghost of Tom Joad, Johnny 99, No Surrender and Radio Nowhere -but the BBC in their infinite wisdom decided to show 1hr 30mins instead of the whole 2hrs 40. Would they cut La Traviata or Wagner's Ring i wonder? Anyone complaining about his set must be mad. Yes its subjective but i think he played everything he needed to.
However can i ask anyone reading these posts from the BBC -have you any plans to show the WHOLE concert anytime soon on BBC 2 or 4?

Now some fanzines /groups would give their eye teeth for this kind of info!
He probably needed them after years of throwing himself through the air off mini-trampolines while playing storming solos(oes??).
He did this show in the Assembly Halls,Worthing many years ago, riding a minor tsunami of popularity after his work on the Tonight the Night tour when Danny Whitten's died.
    "take it, Nils!".
And then with the E Street Band and the Boss.

It's really hard to get Grin stuff on CD or MP3 and the vinyl's wearing thin. What a rocker!

Analysis of these comment boards would yield some fascinating info on fan knowledge and loyalty.
The BBC would do well to use this free feedback to recognise, respond to and to inform their programming and coverage!
We shouldn't have to tell you how to do your job, you should already know.
    Headliners, Glastonbury, Uninterrupted.
Pay the artists what they want!
Radio presenters who have a limited knowledge base.
    Not on the telly.
As has been said before trips to the Greenfield / ShangriLa on CBBC.
Kids are the only ones who have never seen / experienced this stuff before!

My criticism doesn't mean I don't appreciate your attempts to do a difficult and complicated job well, but when it gets this bad you had better be doing some post production analysis and "what could we do better" self appraisal because how we perceive your competence matters now, like it has never mattered before.!

Did Bruce change his mind then because on the BBC coverage before "American Land" you can clearly hear Max hit the first few beats of "Land of Hope and Dreams?"
Also, we need to stop complaining too much about the amount of coverage. Yes it would have been great to see all the set but....Older fans can think back to the 70's, 80's and 90's. How much TV coverage was there then on British TV or how many official releases were there from Bruce. About 30 minutes from the Amnesty Tour. We had to put up with B&W grainy bootleg video recordings and very little else. Let's just enjoy the show!!

In response to comment 455, glastonbury has at least 10 headlining acts every night. Clearly they can't show every act in full.

I was lucky enough to be at Glastonbury, and saw Bruce in full. I also Blur's almost 2 hour set, of which only half an hour was shown. Bruce had at least 3 times as much airtime as any other act. I'd just like to remind those who are complaining, the programme is Glastonbury, not Bruce Springsteen live in concert. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wanted to see footage from the other headliners as well.

I have nothing against the BBC's filming and sound recording of Glastonbury which was fantastic. However regarding not showing complete concerts, such as the one by Bruce, all I have to say is: Rockpalast.

That is a legendary German concert series produced by regional German TV station WDR. Whilst I can't claim they never edit concerts, I can say that most are not edited and broadcast in full. If Bruce appeared over there, it would more than likely be broadcast unedited. It might not be live but at least wouldn't be edited. Of course Glastonbury is bigger than anything they might cover but then the BBC clearly didn't stop filming for the parts of Bruce's set they didn't show. The same goes for all other bands too.

Perhaps Glastonbury should hold it's events on a weekend when the BBC are not covering Wimbledon, then the BBC would be forced to start broadcasting interactively much earlier. That way more of what is filmed could be shown.

Of course there is nothing to stop them broadcasting additional material during the week on their interactive channels rather than showing best of singles highlights packages from the artists involved. Of course I am grateful that something is broadcast, these are just suggestions to improve it even further.

Heh heh. Glastonbury Festival has been held around and about the Summer Solstice for way longer than the TV coverage for it, which didn't start until the mid 90s - and as a festival goer I have to say that from that point of view the festival experience is the lesser for it, although the camera crews are a lot less obtrusive than they used to be. Elvis Costello, headlining the Pyramid with nothing but an acoustic guitar for comfort, refused to be filmed - 'Just you and me, better that way, eh?' - and I think he was right.

So the idea of moving the festival dates to please those who are not attending the festival and get to watch it for free on the telly is frankly barmy.

I share frustrations with not having whole sets shown, but there are many factors in play - number of acts performing, airtime available and rights not least.

I'm sure there are things the BBC could do to improve their coverage, but get some perspective folks - the festival is there for those who attend - TV coverage is a privilege, not a right. if you want to see whole sets, come along... and if for some reason you can't make it, reflect on the nature of the unsatisfactoriness of life and the fact that you can't have everything!

I personally wouldn't go to Glastonbury because I find it has got too massive with far too many people. However I'm sure it is a great experience if one doesn't mind all the people. If I was much older I'd probably have gone when great bands such as Hawkwind, who are still going but obviously not to Glastonbury, headlined the festival. I don't regret being born later, that's the way life is.

However there is nothing wrong is suggesting ways in which the BBC can improve and one way is by increasing the amount of live coverage they devote to music. In my experience German TV seems to be able to cover live music better than the BBC. Even Jools Holland said earlier this year the TV schedulers do not know what to do with live music and that his Later show wouldn't be allowed to happen had it first been broadcast in recent times.
