The Who
Loud and proud! Roger Daltry and Pete Townshend's energy and panache still make their (40 years younger) rivals seem tame in comparison.

Awesome!! Glasto saved the best for last. Gutted that I had to miss the Chemical Brothers but you can't turn down the chance to watch The Who play live and they were everything I expected and more.

I will always look back fondly when John Entwistle would send my head spinning when his fingers would run up and down the neck of his bass guitar like a fighter pilot on a bombing run. Ultimately, his death should have been the writing on the wall for The Who, but Daltrey and Townshend remain triumphant and the magical performance at Glastonbury show there is still life left in the old dog.

What an absolutely amazing performance? That was surely one of the most almighty performances ever mounted on the Pyramid stage? Never before has a band appeared so at home, so natural. When the two most legendary men of rock made their entrance there was a gasp of excitement around the entire sodden field. Belting out 'Can't Explain' to a Mod video backdrop reminded the crowd of where the angst, swagger and rebellion had been created, and the crowd loved it. It wasn't long before some immense crowd pleasers were stunning the throng of people. Other bands must have been peeping through their fingers. The zenith of this collosal appearance came with 'Won't Get Fooled Again' with Daltrey again proving that he can still cut the mustard with the biggest voices. I once saw Nigel Kennedy finish Baba O'Reilly, but thought that the Daltrey mouth organ finale to that track worked superbly. What band can come out to start an encore with a track like 'The kids are alright'? Zak Starkey proved once again that he is anmongst the top handful of drummers in the world - and it was nice to see Pete's brother Simon on stage too. This was a truly memorable show, and confirmed the entitlement of the Who to their moniker as "the greatest live rock band in the world".

AMAZING !!!! great end to a great weekend. Cant wait for next yr :)
Michael Jones
Wish I could have seen it all live (will be in Marley Park though - can't wait) This was the highlight of Glatonsbury - the best band, with the best songs, best live act, best songwriter, best guitarist, best singer, who have the best fans. COME ON THE 'OO!!!
Karen
Amazing!!!!! What is the site where you can buy there Glasto performance on DVD - I was too blown away to remember it?!!!
Ravers
Seriously brilliant sound and visuals but was it all live?
Ian
Showed those skinny jean wannabes what rock n roll is about!
Koen Didier
listening to them we've got the music...still mindblowing after all those years
Davey P
Saw them for the first time in Hull back in May and they totally blew me away. Always loved the music but to really appreciate this great band see them Live and WOWWWW. Watched themat Glasto and for me they certainly continue to prove just how good they really are and Starkey is really giving it some on those drums. Moony would have been proud of him......Davey P.
JJ
absolutely unbelievable, what else can i say. The Who completely blew me away, a great end to a great Glasto, the Who are still the epitomy of rock n roll even after all these years-simply awesome.
Richard Oldfield
they may be nearly sixty, they may be bald or grey, but no body rocks better than the who live, usual fantastic, energetic set from the old die hards, showed a lot of the younger bands how it should be done
Simon
A storming set - Pete Townshend was in excellent form - didnt Oasis play My Generation a couple of years back ? The Who showed how it should be played :-)
Rod
The most amazing show at Glastonbury. classic rock, classic band.
shawny mccarle

The Godfathers of Rock, Pete and Roger. Quite simply the best band in the world. Still rocking after all those years. There were no other bands who even came close..I wonder how many of todays bands will still be turning out performances like that in 30 years?? Long live the Who!! We salute you!
Dan Oxley
The only way to describe the set by THE WHO is simply AWESOME!The visuals were by far the best seen at Glastonbury and complimented the audio side of things to a tee.I only saw the set from watching the highlights on TV and from online and was simply blown away by the whole show. A set of this quality would surely have made all the rain and mud worth while!THE WHO never cease to amaze me with not only their live sets but churning out quality albums one after another!Best set of Glastonbury 2007 for me by a long shot and thats saying something as there were a lot of excellent performances this year!
John
The 'Oo are a national treasure! I call that a bargain - the best I ever had!Unbelievable stuff!
Tom
Still outstanding and the best of the pile.
Peter Morrissey
Great stuff-A superb performance and I was wondering how much they would miss The Ox.Zak Starkey provides a solid backbone.
Furky
Townshend the true Modfather and the most original of them all. this set was the best of the weekend the Tommy "encore" was magnificent and truly only one regret no quadrophenia that said is there a better live track than "wont get fooled again" - inspiring, spine tingling - must have some of that tea!
Eggsy
Blew all the other puny bands away, come on, don't try to br "trendy" and say that "Maximo Park" or "Babyshambles" are the real deal, admit it that they truly are garbage, arty, amatuerish crap. The Who just put everyone else into the shade. "Long Live Rock", long live the kings of rock, The orrible oo!!!
Sue
I was a Mod in the 60s and used to see the Who (or The Detours as they were) on an almost weekly basis at various clubs in West London. I haven't seen them for years and was worried it might be embarrasing to see two old codgers strutting their stuff - no way!! It was a great performance and brought back a lot of memories.
james E
Saw them at Knowsley hall festival the night before, then watched this one on telly. Simply amzing - 'Won't get fooled again' is a true rock anthem.
steve jones
Aged mods...they can put the younger ones to shame!
Lou
Also the tea was so rock and roll! I LOVE Roger Dultry!
Lou
The Best set/band of the whole of Glastonbury! They wiped the floor with everyone else! Great showmen with great songs, that still sound fresh and amazing!!! It has been my lifes ambition to see The Who and now it is fulfilled! ROCK ON TOMMY!!!!! x
Rob Wilkes - Coventry
By far the best act of the weekend. They showed the younger generation how its done.
steve
shame they were on last as we had stood at the front for 12 hours and we really needed the toilet. so we didnt really enjoy as much as we had liked to, but they were amazing great finally of glastonbury estival
John McCandless
Absolutely mind-blowing performance. Well worthy of the closing slot on the Pyramid Stage. HUGE SUCCESS!
Mark Pitt
A Who concert has never been the same without 'Boris The Spider' or 'My Wife', but even now as a twosome, Townshend and Daltrey prove they can still cut the mustard. I am sure Entwistle and Mooney were watching down on their old pals, feeling extremely proud.
debs salisbury
utterly brilliant and awesome.excellent end to the day and the fest for us
Michael John Gilmartin
I saw the Stones in Edinburgh in 1963 and 1965? but this performance was something else!!!!ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENTRingo's son is a better drummer than him but will never touch Keith Moon.Daltrey and Townshend are a credit to their profession to perform at such a high level .
chris Hows My Pop
absolutely stupidly immense, inspired me to go for a face first mud diving session.
Mark Pitt
A Who concert has never been the same without 'Boris The Spider' or 'My Wife' but even now as a twosome, Daltrey and Townshend are still cutting the mustard - RIP The Ox and Mooney!
Shazzer
Didn't know what to expect, but they absolutely blew me away..superb! They topped the weekend, and brought it to a blinding close.
TC Raymond
If you think they're dull or too old, just crawl back to your crappy techno and dance music and leave those of us with brains to enjoy the true kings of music.
Tommy
Best band of all time. All you wannabes best try and beat it, cos you bloody well won't.
john anderson
h the who made all the other groups look silly they were great with a great sound and thanx for showing the whole set
Big Hass
'Rockin'
Ellie
definitely worth the tears, shoving, begging, pain and bribery it took to get me to the front.Absolutely fantastic... The other pansies who have been playing should be quaking in their skinny jeans!(plus Daltrey sang a line and pointed at me - life highlight!)I get the music!
kevin insley
It is what you now expect from Roger and Pete. They may have two original members missing but they proved once again that they are still the top dogs when it comes to performing live. Many younger bands should be forced to watch a live Who set. So so good !!
chris
The Who did it again and put all the rest in the shade. I thought they were the best band at Live8, they were certainly the best at Glastonbury. Two "old" blokes and pot of tea...class! Zak Starkey was outstanding on the drums
The Blackstuff
Real rock n roll and zak starky the perfect replacement for Keith Moon we needed him nearly 30 years ago .
jon ratheram
i thought it was an amazing set no one better to close than the who
Sharon Hicks
Truly dull and too old
Jim Appleton
As a fan since the formation of the band it was great to see 90 minutes of The Who last night. Roger seemed to have a bit of trouble with the 'obsons but the band sounded just as powerfull as ever. Congrats to Zak Starkey, loads of power without trying to emulate the great man Moonie. Pino seems to have slotted into Johns shoes although we miss them both. Pete is just Pete and we guess he will never be anything other than that.... Great show lads, you showed the youngsters what stage prescence is all about..
Mick Woods
Best I'v seen the Who in years!!!
bobbytendey
rubbish
bradders
One word - brilliant thought they were the best of an exellent wkend of live music
Juzza
Damn good for old men. Damn good for young men. Damn good.
tony
fantastic easily best live band around Townsend and Daltrey true rosk icons
Eddie Currie
AWESOME !!!
Gary
I've following The Who since about 1985 and they neve fail to live up to the legend. While 50% of the original line up are missing and are still sorely missed their replacements manage to capture the essence of the music. The majority of guitar players at this years festival should look to Pete Townshend for lessons in how to play with feeling, passion and energy. Long Live Rock.
Julian Greenwood
Given that they have been around for over 40 years, they still manage to reach inside the soul and entice us with an awe inspiring performance that still puts them up with the very best live acts of all time. I hope that I am still as active at their age.
richard traynier
they are totally unsurpassed and all of the rest are simplyapprentices!!!!
mark perrone
awesome as always!!
alex
i love the who!!!!!!! put younger people to shame.......FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oli
awesome, watched them on TV and they were great. Out performed the rest of the headliners and showed they are still one of the best bands around. Awesome!!
Nick
Best band of the weekend. Only ones to come close were Killers and John Foggerty. Probably the best set I've seen them play. Townsend just gets better and better.
Christopher Fitzsimons
Without a doubt they saved the best till last. Awesome performance
GILL
THE WHO WERE BRILLIANT, WHAT A GREAT WAY TO END GLASTONBURY
Guava
Fantastic. The Who played an absolute blinder. Wasn't a particular fan before...but I am now. Roger Daltry - phwoar! Emotive, power-packing, spine-tingling, spell-binding rock. Put all the others in the shade.
amack
Terrific set. Daltreys voice stood up well and there was a real edge to Townsend's playing that has sometimes been absent in recent years.A performance worthy of the occasion and a celebration of one of Britains greatest bands.
Tricia
Absolutely marvellous - total professionalism, the sound, the setting the whole performance had depth which put some of the new bands completely in the shade. What a finale - what a band, lots of life in the old dogs yet - brilliant.
Mary
Unbelievable show..loved the lighting and video show...sounded great after all these years.
pete b
still rocking saw them in paris great and great at glastonbury what a band
Jay
Best Live performance i've seen
Dan Harrison
i was lucky enough to see the who a few months ago at the royal albert hall for the last night of the teenage cancer gigs...the show i saw last night at glastonbury brought all them memories back, i dont't think people appreciated enough the fact that this band has been together for 42 years now, lost half the original band members, have all got there pensioners bus pass, and totally obliterated the show last night...phenominal!!
Ady
The Who quite simply put everybody else in the shade, a classic 'classic rock' performance.
Bill Hercock
Well I have seen Townshend on numerous occasions over the last 40 years and last night he proved that he is the best rock guitarist of all time.
Jackie
Awesome!! First time I saw The Who was at Chelmsford Corn Exchange! They still have dynamism, energy and creativity, reproducing old material as it if was written yesterday and with new musicians who have captured that Who sound. Age is irrelevant.Talent is everything.
Elmo
Crap weather.Best performance I saw over the weekend.Fantastic energy STILL.Long may they "rain" !
Jim
I waited all weekend and finally The who come on.They blew every other band off the stage with their stageshow..lighting was amazing and video was beautifulthey showed how it should really be done
Bob
Stunning. If only Moony and Entwhistle coulda been there.A good solid round up of what theyve been blowin peoples heads off with for forty years now.Pete takes most of the credit but they would not be half the band they are without Daltry. One of the most powerful live singers there ever was.Hes up there with Jagger as a front man.He bosses that poor microphone.
Carl
Utterly Brilliant. Always are LIVE.They rocked Woodstock in their prime, put dudes like Hendrix and Joplin in the shade. That takes some serious doing.I don't think there's ever been a better live act has there?
Fergus B
They were amazing! What a way to end the weekend
Mike
Fanfffflipintastic! If this isn't the greatest live band ever then you're going to be naming a band that hasn't even played on planet Earth yet. There is NO ONE to beat them live. They are the true daddies of live rock. Rather listen to a few other acts on my stereo at home, but put them on a stage in a large field or park and they come into their element as though the open air gig was invented for The Who. All the other so called super groups are humbled by their stage act every time. No one to touch them, live. No not even the Stones, not Oasis, U2, not even close. The Manic Street Preachers looked utterly puny in comparison to the Who, really do me a favour, Jo Whiley, get to know what real music and real performance is, PLEASE!
Aaron Wood
Peter Townshend is one of the best guitarists thats ever lived. Whatever age you are if you don't like The Who you have problems and should be admitted to a mental health unit they are the pioneers of their trade.
alfie
The who are a different class to all the other acts, That's why they are top of the bill after all these years. bands will come and go but true quality will always shine through. Magnificent
John Carrell
Absolutely brilliant, most of the other acts state the Who as their influence. Their act only reinforces the reason why.
