I agree with George Allery below, I really like their music and have both albums so sort of knew the newer songs too, but they were totally lack lustre-mayber nervous? Was such a shame, ended up leaving early to go and see squarepusher at the glade! i felt the kooks had the same problem, good music just no atmosphere, unlike kasabian, lily allen and the magic numbers who all managed to totally uplift the pyramid crowd.

I GOT BACK TO YORKSHIRE FROM MY BASE FOR THE WEEKEND GOT A CAN OUT OF THE FRIDGE SWITCHED THE TV ON AND TO MY LOOK I HAD GOT HOME IN TIME FOR THERE GIG.THEY MADE MY NIGHT IWATCHED THEM TO THE END AND AS ALWAYS THEY DID NOT LET ANYONE DOWN THEY WERE THE BEST LIVE ACT OF THE FESTIVAL AGAINST SOME STIFF OPERSITION AND ILIKED THE YORKSHIRE ACSENT LADYS AND GENTS VERY COOL INSTEAD OF ALOT OF SWEARING IDONT MIND IT AT ALL FROM ROCKERS . ITHOUGHT IT WAS A NICE TOUCH THE DRUMMER WAS INSPIRING WELL DONE (GO ON BRIAN).

The best band of the weekend by far! Great to actually hear a band live that sounds the same if not better than on an album. Made me feel, like a dirty old woman admiring fit young men in jeans! They made it seem so effortless, no flashy stage sets, just pure genius. Hi-light of my Friday night I can tell you.

The arctics have a deluded set of fans if they think that performance was good. Where is the creativity? You don't headline Glasto just to rattle off your album tracks as if you were in a studio. Eavis should have had them on 3 slots earlier, they aren't ready yet.

They were okay, started off well, but faded out after the first three songs. Got the mix of songs wrong, as their new album hasn't been well publicised and it is so boring compared to the first. They didn't seem like they enjoyed it and a headline act should spend their time up on the stage working the crowd and having the time of their life. It seems as if the Arctics found headlining the biggest cultural frstival in europe on the opening night a laborious task. Kasabian did a much better job of enjoying themselves, and i would have much rather had them headlining, even though i prefer the Arctics music. Real shame, and unfortunately for the Monkeys, they've really let me, and the people i was chatting too while i was bored during there set, down. Hopefully they show a performance that makes me change my mind.

The Arctic Monkeys' fans spelling is as bad as their taste in music ... Monkeys are a poorer than average band lacking in musical originality. Not helped by dreadful sound system. Compare and contrast with Paul Weller's masterly set.

I was stood adjacent to the mixing desk a bit to the ride side and tho you cud see the performance was good the sound was absolutley terrible - not fault of Monkeys - just too quiet - we were singing along and you could be forgiven for thinking there was no sound at all - peope, including myself just drifted off. Felt really ripped off actually.

Sadly i couldn't go glastonbury this year but i hve been watching avidly at home. And Arctic Monkeys are by far the best perfomance there this year! I just couldn't believe how in touch Alex was with the crowd and how it was so simple yet so brilliant! And when they were leaving the stage you could really see how much it meant to the guys i even cried for them... how sad am i! But an Amazing show cn't wit to see them for myself!

What can I say I was blown away! They were (in Alex's words) 'Splendid' I literally had goosebumps all over, bet it was ace live... what I would have given to of been there. Me and my mates were calling for 4 and a half hours and on t'internet trying to get tickets but obviously were not successful. I have also spent a fortune entering every competition going!All I can say is Actic Monkeys are Rock and Roll stars without a shadow of a doubt. Alex is a fantastic frontman, but my best bit was Helders on them drums... jesus I bet he's dinamite in bed! You are Legends lads!

Not sure really. I'm a massive Arctics fan but I'm not entirely certain they connected to the crowd. I might be mistaken but I'm sure I heard some fans screeming 'your shi?'. The BBC didn't help matters by playing the wrong audio on their first track which pretty much spolied it for me. Maybe it was a couple of years too early for them to headline

Great band, but I was distinctly underwhelmed by their headlining performance. Their stripped back sound didn't really work on a stage of that size, and it seemed the crowd were only singing the old stuff. Fair play to them for doing this gig, but I always feel headliners should pull something special out of the bag. Unfortunately I don't think they did. Kasabian on the other hand...

I managed to sprint in to my mates house just as Arctic started to play teddy picker. Every song was more than position. We turned up the TV so loud that the walls vibrated and the people on the other side of town could here the amazing riff of the finale song, A Certain Romance. I feel proud for Arctic Monkeys and its great to have bands from sheffield headlining Glastonbury. I cant wait to see them next month!!!
